Chiusa/Klausen lies at the foot of the holy mountain of Tyrol and its landmark, Sabiona/Säben abbey. Nestled in the beautiful Valle Isarco/Eisacktal valley Valley in the heart of South Tyrol, it has enchanted travellers from all over the world for centuries. One of the most important customs checkpoint on the road from north to south in the Middle Ages, Chiusa/Klausen has preserved its captivating historic centre and is today starting point for fantastic excursions. Albrecht Dürer stayed here in 1494 and immortalized the beauty of this place in his engraving "Nemesis".
